Do you think corporal punishment - spanking - is child abuse? Why or why not?
I thought I could vote in a poll like on Facebook, but no, on Xanga you have to write a whole freakin' post and nobody reads or cares what you say anyway.
Studies have shown that corporal punishment - ie spanking - is beneficial and results in a better chance of a well disciplined child. I'm not talking about beating your child senseless, I'm talking about making rules and having consequences for breaking them. Sometimes having a "time-out-sit-in-the-corner-session" just isn't enough. When I was but a wee lad I found a million other things to do to entertain myself. Same goes for having computer/video game/tv privileges taken away. There are a million other things to do besides stare at a flickering tube (no... I'm being serious) but nothing quite beats the child like a good spanking. It's important that you do it right, that the child sees that they are in the wrong, and you only do it because you love them. As the good-ol' Bible says, "Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish him with the rod, he will not die." Death referring not to physical death but spiritual, being part of the way of "training up a child." So there you have my answer. I'd love to see what you think - I really would. But I don't care. I know I'm right and, well, if I don't ever have a kid I'll just pretend it's you, so watch your backside. Somebody may need a little discipline.
I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!

xanga should add polls, now that you mention it. Â
good answer too... much better than a typical, cold, and emotionless yes or no of a poll answer...ha ha, I agree....not that you care, but I do.
